USA – Chowbus, a Chicago, IL-based Asian food delivery platform, raised $33m in Series A funding round.
The round was led by Altos Ventures and Left Lane Capital with participation from Hyde Park Angels, Fika Ventures, FJ Labs and Silicon Valley Bank. The company will use the new funding to continue to grow its existing business, launch its platform in new cities, and expand its product line, while continuing to support the restaurants and customers on the platform. Founded in 2016 by Suyu Zhang and Linxin Wen, Chowbus is a food-delivery platform that connects diners with authentic Asian food from “mom and pop” restaurants and stores in over 20 cities in North America. The bilingual platform provides a curated list of restaurants paired with images and a “bundling” feature that allows users to order the best dishes from multiple restaurants in a single delivery. The app is available in New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, Atlanta, Los Angeles, the Bay Area, Seattle, and many other cities across North America. The company has also added former Chief Operating Officer (COO) of JUMP Bikes and one of Uber’s first 50 employees, Kenny Tsai, as COO, and former Groupon product leader Jieying Zheng as Head of Product. 22/07/2020
