USA – Omaze, a Los Angeles, CA-based online fundraising platform that offers once-in-a-lifetime experiences and prizes to support charities, closed a a $30M Series B funding.
The round was led by FirstMark Capital with participation from Causeway Media Partners, BDMI, Tusk Ventures, Inherent Group, Gaingels, Penni Thow’s Copper and Guy Oseary. The company intends to use the funds to continue to invest and scale the home and car categories, and accelerate their international expansion, which will be initially focused on Western Europe and Asia.Co-founded by CEO Matt Pohlson in 2012, Omaze is an online fundraising platform that offers once-in-a-lifetime experiences and prizes to support nonprofits around the world. Omaze campaigns connect influencers, nonprofits and donors to create lasting impact, and have raised funds and awareness for more than 350 charities with donations from over 180 countries. In addition to experiences, cars and travel, in the last year the company formally launched homes as a prize offering. They have already launched two $1M+ homes on the platform, one located in Miami, FL and the other in Cheshire, UK.In addition to closing the round, Omaze added Wyc Grousbeck, Celtics Lead Owner, Co-founder of Causeway Media Partners and philanthropist, and Penni Thow, previously Executive Vice President at SB Projects and now Founder and CEO of Copper, to the board. 13/08/2020
