CANADA – Boxhub, a Copenhagen, Denmark-founded, Toronto, Canada-based online marketplace for shipping containers, raised $2.7M in Seed funding.
Backers included Niklas Östberg, Conrad Whelan, David Helgason, Esther Dyson, Charlie Songhurst, Aakrit Vaish, Michael Pomerleau, Samuel Fuentes, and vc firm Innoport.
The company intends to use the funds to accelerate U.S. expansion and product development.Founded in 2017 and led by CEO Maximillian Birner, Boxhub is an e-commerce and logistics platform enabling the purchase and delivery of shipping containers. The managed marketplace is used by customers embarking on DIY/upcycling projects, with many Boxhub-procured containers embarking on second lives as tiny houses, vertical farms, and home offices. Thousands of customers have purchased shipping containers through the platform, including NASA, General Electric, Hobby Lobby, and the New York City Housing Authority.12/04/2022
