USA – FarmWise, a Santa Clara and Salinas, CA-based farm automation startup, raised $45M in Series B funding.
The round was led by Fall Line Capital and Middleland Capital, with participation from GV and Taylor Farms, as well as existing investors Calibrate Ventures, Playground Global, SVG Ventures and the venture arm of Wilbur Ellis. The company intends to use the funds to accelerate its roadmap to release a vegetable weeding implement that sets a new standard of reliability and versatility in farm robotics, to serve more farmers within the vegetable industry, and start adding capabilities for its technology to be used on row crops farms which are equally challenged by the dwindling resources.
Led by CEO Sebastien Boyer, FarmWise builds innovative systems to streamline farm operations and increase food production efficiency. Its first product is an automated mechanical weeder powered by AI and robotics, named Titan, which detects the crops from the weeds and uproots the latter with centimeter precision without using any chemicals.
After 15,000 commercial hours, the company has enriched its plant database with over 450 million scanned images of individual crops.02/06/2022
