USA – Astraea, a Charlottesville, VA-based satellite intelligence company, raised $6.5M in Series A funding.
The round was led by Aligned Climate Capital and Carbon Drawdown Collective with participation from CAV Angels, Tydall Investment Partners, and University of Virginia (UVA) Seed Fund. The company intends to use the funds to support business development, hire data scientists, and expand commercial partnerships with satellite data providers.Led by CEO Brendan Richardson, Astraea provides a software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform, EarthAI, that leverages geospatial data from more than 1,000 satellites to address climate change. Using artificial intelligence, machine learning, and cloud computing technologies, the system enables customers to access and operationalize satellite insights across multiple industries, including clean energy, agriculture, conservation, carbon finance, and real estate. 24/07/2022
