FRANCE – OVHcloud, a Roubaix, France-based cloud company, acquired gridscale, a Bonn, Germany-based software provider specialised in hyperconverged infrastructure.
The amount of the deal – expected to close at the beginning of September 2023 – was not disclosed.With the acquisition, OVHcloud will accelerate its geographical deployment, and enter the market of Edge Computing. High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF) and the existing investors including Endeit Capital, EnBW New Ventures and BLSW Seedfonds (managed by EnjoyVenture) will sell their shares in gridscale as part of the deal. The management team, founders of gridscale, and all of its employees, will be joining the OVHcloud workforce.Managed by the founders and managing directors Henrik Hasenkamp and Marc Dittmann, gridscale is a technology provider of flexible multi-cloud and Edge Computing solutions and offers companies and data center operators a plug-and-play environment for hyper-converged IT infrastructures. The customer decides on the location of his secure and sovereign data processing. In addition, its technology allows scale-out to connected, public cloud environments as required, for example, for less sensitive workloads.
