Flower Raises $20M in Series A Funding

USA – Flower Labs, a San Francisco, CA-based provider of an open-source framework, ecosystem and community for training to accelerate the mainstream adoption of federated and decentralized AI, raised $20M in Series A funding.

The round was led by Felicis, with participation from First Spark Ventures, Factorial Capital, Beta Works, Y Combinator, Pioneer Fund, Mozilla Ventures, and angels, such as Hugging Face CEO Clem Delangue and GitHub co-founder Scott Chacon.The company intends to use the funds to build a platform that will work alongside the open-source framework to further simplify federated AI solutions. Founded by CEO Daniel J. Beutel, COO Taner Topal and CSO Nicholas D. Lane, Flower is an open-source framework, ecosystem and community for training and using AI on distributed data using federated learning, and related decentralized technologies. Companies like Banking Circle, Nokia, Samsung, Porsche, and Brave use it to improve their AI models on sensitive data that is distributed across organizational silos or user devices. By working closely with a community of over 3000 open-source developers, Flower is the leading ecosystem for advances in the federated and decentralized machine learning field.
